Default Anyone know tank to engine fuel line size?

Looking to go get a length of fuel hose to run from a gas can to the metal feed line in the trunk to fire the car up. I don't have any fuel hose laying around of various sizes I can use to figure out which size to get, so I thought I'd see if any of you knew.

I'm game, and only had ONE drink.

WHAT CAR WE TALKING ABOUT, please.

Maybe 10mm or 8mm, basically a 50/50 shot in the dark.

That still covers a lot of territory.

Since you are going to take the hose off anyways, why not take it off and take it to the store, or take it off and see what size open end wrench fits around the hard line?

Or even take it off and snip off an eighth inch or so to take with you.

And once you have it off, you could always just measure it with a ruler for both ID and OD.

All the old lines are off the car and tossed. They were crusty and old and hindsight is always 20/20, but at the time I wasn't thinking "hey, I might ought to see what size this is before I toss it" lol

I reckon I could try and measure the size of the metal line itself, I might just have to crawl into the trunk just to be able to easily reach it to measure.

Hmmmmm.

I remember that tank to change-over valve hoses are 1/2" ID.

I remember that the fuel rail inlet takes 3/8" ID and inlet/outlet of the fuel filter is 3/8" ID

As far as I know you'll need 3/8" ID for everything from pump outlet to fuel rail inlet. That's what I'd go with if I had to guess.

Cheers

I should addd that my speculations above are based on experience with Ser III XJ6/XJ12 with fuel injection. Not sure about others.
