Default Ball joints

Its been a productive morning at the Darren household!!
I moved the tv over 30 inches! no small project, as its mounted to wall and wires are hidden in wall! of course wife woke up to drywall patches and wasnt happy! so i went into the garage and tore into front suspension ( i have been procrastinating, had parts for over two months!) did all four ball joints, wheel bearings, and front brakes! hardest part of job was getting old cup out of lower control arm, but im done, and all before lunch!! its beer thirty!!

As a side note, check your wheel bearings folks!! i had no noise and no grinding but they were free spinning with literally no grease at all!! wouldn't have been long before one siezed up!!!! there is a zerk fitting right on the hub, i guess taking off the wheel to grease that fitting was too much work!!

Now i gotta figure out where the puddle of poser steering fluid came from!!
But not today, im done and clean!!

That Zerk is an odd anomolay found only in Jaguars as far as I know.

Not good enough to suit me and others. it fails to lube the rear bearing, unless one pumps in enough lube to fill the cavity between the front and the rear!!!

I leaned from pro as to a proper front bearing pack while working my way through college.

Take it apart. Clean each. Pack front and with proper lube. OK by hand or with a tool. No lube in the cavity between the two. New seal and install. adjust play and it's good for many carefree miles. We used to get two buck for that. simpler with a simple drum brake than with a caliper, but not too much more complex.

Off to paly with my toys!!

umm I made a fried egg and cheese sandwich about 10:30, was quite a sight too! me in the kitchen trying to fry and egg with blue rubber gloves on as i was all greasy!!! i know better than to leave black handprints on anything inside the house!!
I cant seem to work in the gloves though, they break as soon as i open my tool box!!! so i just use them to do clean bits, like handling the rotors after messing with the bearings! or reaching in the car to start it etc!!
