I am trying to make a Power Bleeder. Which, when I'm done, I will offer to loan anyone on this forum to get this difficult task done with one person. So here's my problem - I can find a reasonable Power Bleeder that you pressurize on Ebay for about $50. However the cap for them that goes on the top of the reservoir seems to be a generic one that does not fit my Series II remote reservoir. So... I need to find a used one for a very reasonable price for me to remove the low fluid sensing switch and replace it with a air nipple connection of some sort to match the Power Bleeder. Does anyone have one hanging around?
I also see this concept, but there's not any kind of specs or writeup for me to determine what it really is:
if you just need a plastic cap onto which you are going to poke a hole through in the center, try the cap from a 5 qt. oil container from Walmart.
I used one to replace the yellow, washer reservoir cap in my '84 and it works better than the factory cap, a lot more positive and it was free after I used the oil.
other possible caps: Laundry detergent containers, and you name it containers with caps. Many sizes, one should fit.
That's a brilliant answer Jose and one that I was entertaining until I saw this on Craigslist last night. The universal adapter it has WILL fit the 3" wide opening of the remote brake reservoir in the Series II. For $30 how could I go wrong!!
Bears the next question - what is the BEST DOT 4 brake fluid to use that is off the shelf either on Ebay or some parts house?. And not the Jaguar dealer.
Bill, I got tired of replacing the little yellow cap in the washer bottle in my Series 3.
A new one gets brittle and cracks when you pull it sooner or later. The oil container cap has outlasted the factory cap. It is a rubbery type of plastic, a better material than the yellow cap's plastic.
As long as the brake fluid meets the whatever Standards or Specifications, the brand is irrelevant.
I have used PRESTONE brake fluid without any issues.
I anticipate the universal adapter will be a PITA. For this time around I will be making a flat bar stock with two holes in it for under the reservoir and two long bolts to go through the top and into the bar underneath the reservoir, then tighten them so no leaks. But... I will keep my eyes open for a suitable cap to modify for the future as Jose suggested. Because I'm sure this won't be the last time I get to do this exciting job. Thanks for all the tips. I'll let you know how it goes.

I use NAPA brand or whatever other name brand is on sale that day. I think Valvoline is what's on my shelf right now; can't remember.
Unless you're going racing, where ultra-high fluid temperatures might be encountered, any of the usual suspects will be fine. Motul and ATE (and surely others) make some specialty brake fluids if you wanna go that route but, IMO, doing so isn't necessary for normal use.
I used to buy Castrol LMA brake fluid but all my local suppliers stopped carrying it.
Wonder if it is a name change. I was watching J.C. Smith on You tube. messes with trucks and keeps the family fleet going. Praises the NAPA stores. Demo's an oil change. 5 qt bottle for wife's Caravan. Brand, NAPA. However, on the back, Valvoline.
For decades I've known the CARQUEST brand to be Valvoline.
So, could it be that Castrol now provides the store brand at some places.
Alas, the nearest NAPA parts place closed. Old timey, machine shop in the back, et... counter persons that knew their stock and the applications. With or at times sans the computer...
last visit, bought a battery cable. fire wall post to starter. I brought the original as a length measure. No need for make and model., back to the rack, came back with a good one. Better than mine. better ends, better insulation. but not a bent at 90 end. Easy, I bent it in my vice!!!
Ands a couple of decades ago, I needed an ignition "ballast aka resistor" for the point and condensor ignition of my flat head V8. Make and model, naah., Just went back and came back with the classic one. Ceramic base with a coil of wire...
