87 xj12 driver side lower hinge replace
Would like to know if any one has ever removed and replaced lower hinge on driver or pass side front door. It looks like fender has to be removed . If there
is a simpler way I would love to know. Doesnt look like an easy job. Thanks for any help and advice. MB

Elinor, Would this apply also to the top hinge? My top Pass side hinge has a worn??? causing the door to droop a bit on closing. But, I have a series 3. Would Jaguar really change the hinges between series? Well, I suppose I answered my own question -we are talking Jaguar after all!
Hello, Ian,
According to the Blue Book, ROM, both hinges are mounted in such a way the fender must be removed to access the attachment bolts.
Jaguar/British Leyland in those years was so cash strapped they didn't change ANYTHING that didn't have to... even the outward appearance of the car changed little from the first Series 1 to the last Series 3.
If you REALLY don't want to remove the fenders, you could shoot some heavy duty lubricant into the hinge pins. There's a small hole for just that on my car, (door drooped when I got the car and had been doing so for quite a long time.). I shoot in aerosol Lubriplate (or similar) quite generously for the very reason I do Not want to do this job either.

Maybe it's not so hard to remove the fender, and it's not like I've never removed one.
However, it simply hasn't elbowed its way to the front of the line yet. When it does, I'll deal with it then.

Fender removal - front bumper comes off; dirt shield aft of the tire comes off; (2) or (3) 1/2" screw bolts behind that shield holding the fender comes off; then the bunch of 1/2" screw bolts on the top of the fender come off; disconnect the side lights - then lift the fender off. Hinges are right there for the pickings.
