Default CHILLS

This afternoon as I was taking husband to one of his doctor appoints we got stuck at the end of a long line (we were 8th in line behind a Camaro) of traffic headed up by a travel trailer, which was itself behind another looooong line led by a tanker. We were already beyond the Passing Lanes or I might have had more hope of making better time.

A couple miles on there is a long left sweeping curve on a small hill that gives clear view of about 3 miles of road. Nothing was coming, road was clear.

Suddenly there sounded like someone lit off a bunch of firecrackers mingled with the buzz of the rumble strip and the Camaro took off like a shot! In no more than 5 seconds, yes I counted, 1-2-3-4-5- he passed 6 vehicles, probably doing well over a ton by the time he sailed around with Plenty of space to spare!

It gave me CHILLS!

If I didn't have husband with me I'd have been Right behind him. I might have got left far behind, but Boy Howdy what a run that would have been!!

I had a similar thing, except it was me and I was in my 6.0 V12 XJS.

I was following a semi through a winding single lane mountain road, doing about 80-90 km/h. There was a very short passing lane ahead and when the coast was clear I floored it. By the time I went past the cab of the truck I was doing 160 km/h and was able to get back in before the passing lane ran out. I was the only car to get around the truck in that short lane. The V12 sure sounded good doing it!

I had a sort of similar experience years ago in either New Mexico or Arizona, passed a line of enormous RV motor homes, to return in lane going quite quickly. What I hadn't seen was the Navajo sheriff sitting in his car behind a little hill at the side of the road. Fortunately, he had a sense of humour and took a few tens of the speed on the ticket he wrote.

when I bought my '65 S type in San Francisco, I was flying through New Mexico doing 90 to 100 on Interstate 40 with my knees shaking, when all of a sudden a silver Mustang 5.0 lands next to me doing hand signals like "Slow Down !" AND "nice car" ( thumb up) and sped up and away! Talk about chills ! The car had the "Indian Nation" Seal on the front door. No ticket ! Yes I slowed to 70, which was boring.
