Anyone like to play guess the relay?
Have a number of these left over and I'm figuring on whether I can make use of them. anyone say what they are and where they might be useful.
You can easily test them with a battery and an Ohmeter. The red one is the horn and the blue one may be the antenna relay. Hella and Pektron are after market.
The ones marked 30/51-85-86-87 are a round, Lucas version of the generic "Bosch style" accessory/multi-purpose relay. Same pin configuration and function.
All my older Jags has various "Pektron" devices so I wouldn't be too quick to assume it's an aftermarket fitment
After 30+ years they cant have that much life left in them. Personally I would take the opportunity to migrate them all to the rubbish bin unless you want the original look under the bonnet. Relays are not expensive, but they do have the ability to functionally disable the car or a key function like headlights or wipers or indicators, normally at the most inconvenient time.
If I am working on an area of a car involving relays I will normally try to convert to current generation versions as part of the job. But thats just me , as I am not concerned with originality. I did this recently with another car, changed the starter relay to a generic on the Jag and am looking to install relays where there were none for headlights on an old Morris (maybe after that the Jag to unload the light switch)
I think the black ones are for horn ...the red I believe is a latching relay for the aux small fan and is activated by a temp switch screwed into the side /bottom of the radiator.
the black TBB44 is the turn signals relay or Flasher.
the 4 round black ones are generic, one is for the horn per alynmurray's, and you can use the other 3 to improve the wiper speeds using the SKJagtech mod.
the remaining two are not Jaguar, possibly from an auxiliary driving lights kit.
