Converting from left to right hand drive
Hi Newbie here from uk..
Im looking at buying another series 2 as ive had a break from jags for a while and ive found a great 4.2 manual lwb but its a left hand drive, my question is were the bulkheads built with the left and right sections the same just blanked holes etc for different configurations. I know alot of classic british cars were interchangable but cant remember if jags are. I have a donor car so dash, steering rack, column and pipework are not a problem to source.
Cheers all
Alan

Hello, Alan,
My Series II is completely capable of going either way.
The rack is easy actually, if you like the Original light steering. Just turn it end for end and bold it up. The cross member, like everything else, has provisions for either left or right drive.
Now I think of it, you might have to do something about the battery platform.

Might work out just fine.
The battery sits in a pan bolted to the firewall. There is a ledge behind the master cylinder booster on my LHD car. Might it be as a place to attach a battery pan.
Now, under the battery in my LHD car are two important features.
1. A small and a larger spigot for the AC. Might be Ok, just a hose reroute, if anything.
2. a largish hole with a stubborn rubber grommet for the multi wire
harness. again, might be just fine as situated.
I do wonder if wiper sweep is "handed". And, even f so, livable.
Headlamp units are handed. easily swapped or just lived with?
Jaguar must have made the switch as easy as possible. that cost thing.
