Default Correct tires for my 1987 XJ6

Where can I get correct tires for my 1987 XJ6? It takes P5 215/70 VR 15 tires.

I don't intend to go as fast as an R rated tire will go, but the sidewall strength is important for tire longevity and safe driving.

Thanks for the help.

I believe you meant to say "...as fast as a V rated tire will go.....".

I don't know of any tire manufacturer that publishes sidewall specs but we assume...probably correctly...that tire with a higher speed rating and/or higher load rating will have stronger sidewalls.

Since V-rated (o even H-rated) 215/70x15 tire are almost extinct we're left with looking at highest possible load ratings. If you can find that size with a 98-99-100 load rating you'll probably be getting the stronger sidewall you're looking for.

Tire Rack is one good place to start the search

Cheers

Doug,

Thanks! That was exactly the sort of information I needed.

Yes the rating is V not R.

I will look at the load ratings and see what I can find in the 98 to 100 range.

Thanks again.
