Default Dashboard - interchanging

Hey all,

I have been told the timber dashboard panel from a SII will fit the SIII and vice versa

Before I shell out cash, has anybody done this?

Cheers
Craig

I would ask David at everydayxj.com. He has seen them both out of the car. May even have them sitting around to compare.

Never tried it but my understanding is the two will fit interchangeably but are slightly different with respect to the central warning light cluster between the tach and speedo. The cluster is slightly different therefore the wood would be cut differently in that area

Worth double checking

The difference is apparent in these pictures

I removed my SII dash and installed a SIII one. And to Doug's point, yes the center warning cluster is different. I had to acquire a SIII one to complete the project. Also note the catalyst warning light (and subsequent hole) is on the SIII dash also. As my SII doesn't have a catalytic convertor, I used that hole for a electric fan is ON led light. As I don't have a mechanical fan anymore, I thought it important to me to know when the twin electric fans were on. And... the SIII dash has the stickers under the side vents.

SIII Dash I bought and installed.

Also note the SII warning light cluster has a silver paint job around the edge to match the rest of the gauges and the SIII one does not. No big deal to get a small bottle of silver modeling paint and paint it though.

or you can get Chrome Nail Polish, a lot nicer than silver paint.

Jose - it probably is, but then I'll assume you have to then paint all the other gauges to match. But... Maybe I'll put that on my wish list when I'm done with everything else. (Like I'll ever be done!).

If it helps, here is a photo of an 87 SIII dashboard with the warning light cover removed.
