Default Diff oil capacity.

Does anyone know the capacity of a 1972 xj6 diff with 3.54 gears? I've got the rear up on jack stands after my IRS rebuild, so filling 'til it flows out the filling port doesn't work. I thought it was 1.9 litres and that's what I've got in it know, but suddenly I'm not so sure, think it may be 1.5??? Anyone?

I'm thinking about 2.25 US Quarts. That's about what I recall using in my Ser III XJ6 and 1988 XJS.....which gave the same diff as far as I know.

Someone with a manual close at hand will chime in

Cheers

Imperial 2 & 3/4 pints:
U.S. 3 & 1/4 pints:
Litres 1.5

for series 1 XJ 2.8 & 4.2 litre.

GX90 / Hypoy(castrol) / EP90 / GP90/140 / SAE 90 Ep / Hypoid 90 / EP 90 .

You could remove the filler plug when you have it back on the ground to drain the excess.
