Electric ignition

I think you are referring to Electronic ignition conversion products. I looked at their web site and it looks like they carry kits for converting from points to electronic pickup systems. Here in the US the dominant supplier of those is Pertronix. Also, in the hot rod market there are electronic systems that control spark advance, custom advance mapping, etc. MSD is one of the major suppliers of that type of system.
I too would love to hear if anyone has installed an MSD type system in an XJ6.

I installed a K1 - Powerspark Electronic Ignition Kit in my series 1 and I am very pleased with it. Works great, doesn’t require maintenance and is really simple to install. I would recommend it to anyone.
The info on Powerspark’s website says you need to change your coil as well for the ingniton system to work properly. I’m not sure if it’s true, but I was planning to replace it anyway so I ordered the recommended one.
