Hello All,
I want to remove the manual windows from my 1971 XJ6, & fit electric windows from a later model.
Can anyone advise which later model I should get the parts from, where they will fit into my car with the least hassle.

Thanks in advance.

Stratau,

I have a 1972 XJ12 with electric windows that I am hoping to put back to manual. Have a contact with a parts car that I aim to remove the doors from. You are welcome to any electrics left over once the job is done.

Thanks, The Mekon,
Do you know for sure if the electrics from the '72 VJ12 will fit my car? What price would I be looking at? And why would you want to put manual windows back in your car?

Thanks for your reply.

The electrics will be from a car I bought - see this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/a...roject-225827/ I am still thinking what to do with this car. All I have decided is that it will not have a V12 back underneath the bonnet, and probably not electric windows.

The question I ask you as a new owner of a Series 1 (49 year old car), why is installing electric windows the first thing you want to do with this car? Is everything else perfect?

I saw the Jag in your link. Huge undertaking. I would like electric windows just for the convienience. The rest of my car is ok. It's been well maintained.

The 1971 USA cars all had electric windows, and they were optional elsewhere, so there isn't a need to find a later year. I realize that AU got many S1s without power windows (and without A/C), so you might have better luck sourcing from another country. IMHO.

Thanks Robert, I didn't know that about the USA cars. If things don't work out here, I might have to bite the bullet & pay the freight from the States. The freight is proberbly more than the cost of the parts.
