You're right not much room down there, I used the correct size socket and couldn't get a socket handle to fit so I ground a couple of flats on the sides of the scket and used a large open ended spanner to turn the engine.
Yeah that's the one. If you get the right socket and grind it as I did you might be able to access it more easily from underneath. Make sure you turn it in the direction of rotation of the crankshaft and not backwards. Take the spark plugs out and squirt a little oil into each cylinder a day before trying to turn it over.
Adi, does that new red pos cable in the picture go in one piece all the way down to the starter or does it go the the stud on the firewall? The video you emailed me was very telling. A very weak sounding bendix. I still think it's battery supply circuit to the starter motor somehow. I'll try to get time to post that vid to my YT account and link it here, it would be a great help to those trying to help.

Hi, the red wire goes from the positive battery to the firewall. The other red wire goes from the firewall to the starter, but I replaced that one with a new one.
When I replaced the positive battery cable, there was also a brown cable connected. I don't know where this brown cable ends. I wonder if there's a fuse for it?
