Default engine non-essentials

I live in an area where there are no emission standards for vehicles made before 95 and I have an 87 xj6 with a lot of clutter under the hood. I'm thinking of removing what I can for numerous reasons, ease of maintenance being the leading factor.
Having said that, I have only barely looked at the engine (got the car while I was recovering from stomach surgery and I'm just now feeling spunky enough to dig into it) and I'm wondering how much/what can be removed? In the late 70's and early 80's we used to pull off the air pumps and emission controls on our chevy's and they actually ran better. Any thoughts?

Jamey,

Go over to the Off Topic section and look up the thread Jaguar Hot Rod. Take a look at how clean this V12 looks with all the extraneous stuff stripped away; and, if you know what a V12 looks like in full dress, you can really appreciate it. Makes me want to take on an older XJS project, like I need another Jaguar!

Hi Steve
That thread is what got me thinking about doing this! Simplicity is a thing of beauty!

Ain't it though!

I've been watching a 95 XJS V12 sitting in a neighbor's garage for sometime now. They never use it. Someday I hope it will be mine! I can picture the same "clean" look V12 in an XJS.

That V12 is certainly impressive looking without all the extras. I was really hoping someone had stripped down a 6 and had some advice before I began ripping and tearing things out.
Guess I'll learn as I go!
