Default Engine swap

What issues do I need to look out for if I want to swap a Series 1 4.2l engine into the same model of car, but mine has a manual transmission and the oreplacement engine would be coming out of an auto?

Not AFAIK or hope. The issues are more with getting the correct matching drive-train for the manual setup, but you have those already. Maybe a few hose differences but again you have those on your car. I think the auto had an oil cooler for the transmission.

If you can hear the engine running and maybe perform a compression test on before buying it.

None that I remember also.

You are keeping the manual, or going lazy with the Auto????

If its just the engine being used, easier.

I think?? the spigot hole in the crankshaft on the manual and the early BW transmissions is the same, but it has been a LONG while.

I'm pretty sure you'll have to use the autobox and send all the manual bits to me. Pm me for the correct address!

Staying with the manual, definitely. The current engine has no compression in 2 cylinders, with a third dodgy. So rather than getting the engine rebuilt (which I can't really afford), and assuming I'll end up with parts left over if I strip and rebuild it, I thought an option would be to get a donor engine.
Thanks for the offer Slofut, if only I'd known earlier haha
