Question Engine vs. Trans.

I currently have a 350 Chevy small block i'm looking to put in my 86 XJ6.

Will the transmission bolt right on to the SBC or do I need a different flywheel, or starter motor, or anything else?

Trans will not bolt up. You need a complete Chevy drive trains, engine and transmission. The best kit, by far, is Jaguar Specialties. If you follow their instructions using an LT1 engine and matching 4l60e transmission from a donor car you will have one sweet ride when done.

Well i was thinking about just putting a 700r4 behind it if the jag one wouldn't work. As far as running it i'm just going with an HEI distributor and carb. for now

I need to know where i can get good engine mounts, and trans. mount.

Also will the cooling system be an issue? (radiator/fans)

1, If you are in CA and possibly other states, your car will not be smog legal. An orphan.

2. Three sources for engine and transmission mounts:
A. Jaguar Specialties, circa San Jose, California.
B. Johns cars, circa Fort Worth, Texas.
C. JTR, circa Livermore, CA.

The Jaguar radiator is inadequate.

Lots more to it. If your SBC is complete, that goes a long way.
Only about two exhaust manifolds will work. Steering interference on the driver
side.

Jag to GM electrics to match up.

Drive shaft to have made.

Muffler shop to set up pipes.

Fuel pump? fuel lines.

Working AC adds another hurdle.

And, the beat goes on. But, quite doable with great results.

And, is the DOHC that bad????

350/700r4 is good. 90's camaro radiator ($100) worked better for me than the expensive aluminum jobs, electric fans. Makes for an effortless drive! AC fine. Drive shaft shortened for 50 bucks. Jag Specialties, suncoast conversions for info.
