Default Fuel Injection Harness Rehab

Some of the plastic connectors on he fuel injection harness of my 87 S III is cracked or badly broken. I have seen replacement connectors online that either have crimp connectors or pigtails for soldering to the existing harness.

Of course replacing the whole harness is the easy way to go but over my budget.

I wonder what the best way is to replace the broken connectors and if there is any source for factory quality connectors/rubber covers out there?

I have rebuilt my V12 harness and will likely do my Series III this winter.

I just bought new connectors online (about $2 each), some high temp wire and made it myself. Soldered and heat shrunk all connections. Did a reasonable job and it's still fine a few years on.

One thing to be careful of is if you decide to only replace the damaged connectors and reconnect to the existing wiring, there's a pretty good chance that wiring is not in tip top condition and in fact moving it around to facilitate soldering and what not may actually create a problem with it that wasn't there before. I think I would just do the whole thing and be done with it.

Google "Bosch injector connector" and you'll get tons of hits. Here's one:

Were you happy with the quality of connectors you used? I wanted to make sure I found top quality parts if they are out there. If you were happy, please post a link to the source if you can still find it.

Thanks,

And one more thing.....

Order nine connectors. Six for the regular injectors, one of the cold start injector, and one each for the coolant temp sensor and the thermmtime switch.

Doug, I've noticed some of the online connectors come with pigtails and some with just crimp on wire connectors.

Wondering which way you went for best results? I would like the harness to look stock while still having the most reliable connections possible.

I use the pre-made type with the pigtails.

I've made up several injector looms using $2.00 apiece connectors from an Ebay vendor....which look to be the same as the Del City offering. No problems at all
