Default Fuel Tank / Gauge Question

I have a quick question on my 1984 VDP fuel gauge (and if it's been asked before, I apologize).

Does each of the fuel tank read separate of each other? If the left tank is say half-full of fuel and I switch over to the right fuel tank (and let's say it's a full tank), does the fuel gauge show the different amount of fuel in the tanks?

It seems that the gauge shows the same amount of fuel no matter which tank I select.

I hope I'm explaining my question the correct way.

Yes, as designed, whatever tank you select the dashboard gauge displays for THAT tank only.

As Doug stated...the tanks are independent and the fuel gauge reading is for one tank only. ie..white band showing is right tank I believe. I would double check your switch...it could be faulty.
