A mere guess! Go to the relay on the left wing wall. Open and clean contacts and hoe or get a good one from David Boger,

is the high beams switch on the right or the left side in the Series 2 ?
in my 1984, the high beams and flash-to-pass are on the left side stalk switch, the right side stalk switch being for the wipers.

the tool in your picture is pointing to the wipers switch, the high beams function is always with the Turn Signals switch, usually on the left of the steering column, unless your car is Right Hand Drive, and the Turn Signals Switch is on the Right side of the steering column.Originally Posted by Anfield Dreaming

so the turn signal switch is on the right side of the steering column, as in the picture?
Yes it on the right on the UK car. I tracked it to a faulty relay it a bash and hey presto! However my left headlight won't come on (I assumed it was the lamp blown) so I'm trying to tract that fault now. Any ideas?

if not a blown lamp, does the car have separate fuses for each head lamp as in the Series 3 ?
otherwise check the Ground wire for the headlamp in question.

Yeah, way back in my early days of Jaguar stewardship, the right outboard lamp went dark. Simple. In domestic cars, it is a burnt out seal beam. got a new one, swapped it out. Oh,oh, still dark. Checked the wires and found a questionable ground. Fixed it. the lights came on more ways than one. Jags are different!!! I left the new unit in place. it seems a tad brighter. Second lesson. new bulbs are brighter than old ones.
Another time, the lights were random as to lighting up!!! Checked fuses. Seemed OK.
One fix. Remove the fuse box from it's holder and scrub the backside clean.
Or, still another time, merely roll the fuses in situ. I call it the 'finger roll" after past basket ball great center, Wilt Chamberlain, famous shot to basket.
