Default Heat deflector

Hello from “down under”.
what would be the consequences of permanently removing the heat shield from above the exhaust manifold on my series 3 sovereign?? I’m looking to tidy up the engine area and have noticed that E types don’t have the heat shield.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Don.

I think the heat shield on my 1975 Series II was the same? And I removed it. However,

I did fabricate an exhaust gasket and painted it silver to shield the A/C compressor just because I thought it needed it. And wrapped the A/C lines with heat shield tape. See pic.

Thanks Bill for reply.
your engine bay looks tidy. Hopefully mine will look as good some day.
So you have not experienced any problems with excessive heat to the bonnet (engine hood) such as paint or colour changes or any damage to the bonnet lining ?.

Don - I've not experienced any heat deterioration to the hood or its liner. And I live in Florida. I neglected to mention I also had Palm City Powder Coating do a Ceramic Coating on the exhaust manifolds and the "Y" downpipe. That's supposed to help keep the heat inside the manifolds.
