Car is a 1983 XJ6 in JDM Cobalt Blue with leather interior trim code ADE, Biscuit. My question is, what color are the carpets? They are a much darker brown than the Biscuit seats and door panels. Many of the online sources, GAHH, World Upholstery, Skinner, etc don't seem to list carpets in the factory color codes/names. I need to replace my floor mats, but don't need to replace the rest of the carpet. On top of the floor mats will be Coco Mats.
Disregard the aftermarket floor mats. I am sure I am not alone in this search.
Correct, Mink is the factory color, but the problem is none of the common venders offers mink. I guess I could call and ask, they may know what the closest carpet color is in what they sell or order a few samples. I didn't know if anyone here has ordered replacement carpets and would know what aftermarket color corresponds with the factory mink.
I would like to make new floor mats and redo the truck panels in a matching carpet as well,
it may he called Mink but the color is Cinnamon. The standard carpet color in all Series 3 XJ except Vanden Plas and Sovereign.
I would check with John Skinner Ltd. in UK and / or BAS Jaguar interiors.
There were many different carpet colors.
If you had Mulberry red leather the carpet was (some shade of) red.
If you had Savile grey leather the carpets were light grey.
Black leather came with dark grey carpet.
Blue leather came with a blueish-grey carpet.
Buckskin leather came a tan/grey carpet called Rattan, IIRC
To name a few.
Personally I've seen the Mink carpets only with Biscuit leather. It was a very common combination on USA market base model cars but certainly not "all".
VDP/upper line cars did have some combinations that were not available on the base model cars.
I guess I can just call one of the suppliers. I have had great success with John Skinner for the carpets in my Triumph, but I am hoping to buy some bulk material so I can replicate just the floor mats and maybe a matching mat for the floor in the trunk/boot.
