I with dash over to the batch of latches and catches and ****** one with the best match and try to attach, but who would ever hatch up such a design on these catches and latches? I pity the fool. Ha ha.

Yep.....i removed that strip of molding. I came real close to removing the door last week, but then realized the wiring going into it, and that I would need to remove the door panel, and I did not have a good spot to place the door when removed......and did not think it was as heavy as you are saying.....so, Im glad I left it attached......I probably would have done more damage than good.

the 1960s catches and latches were more refined, Triple chrome plated too. But the doors would open by themselves if you hit a bump or in racing when the body was "torqued" during hard cornering. Some famous racers took to welding the doors in place!

Funny......how many of those famous racers fell out going around a hard turn, then came back and spot-welded it shut.

Jose........Hilarious! That was good......Yet, someplace/somewhere in this crazy world, I bet you a good old-fashioned silver dollar that someone has put these catches on their car. Triple plate chrome them for that "custom-look".
And, you never need to worry about losing your key or getting locked out.
