How many were made??
Hi folks,
I'm about to take possession of an XJ6 series 1 1972, factory fit manual with overdrive, does anyone know or know where i can get info about how many manual versions were made?
Thanks

No idea Tom. But with around 59,000 4.2L series 1 manufactured, I reckon that perhaps 20% at most were manual gearbox. So it could have been around 12,000. There were 19,000 2.8L and many of these could have been manuals. I can recall being in UK in 1984 and visiting a scrapyard. There were quite a few early series 1 manuals stacked up in that yard. Manuals much more common in UK and Europe.
I wish someone would sell me a manual XJ6

Mekon,
I'll be picking it up next week then do my thing with the car, i'll be upgrading (modernizing) it in some areas, fitting remote central locking - electronic ignition & upgrade some other electrics....who knows it might end up being the car you want....Tom
