a Series 3 interior (excluding the dash), will go fine all the way to a Series 1, because I have witnessed it done.

However, the armrest mountings might need modification, as well as the door panel (Door Cards) rear clips.

 

Arm rests in the front doors will need mounting pieces made up... but they will fit fine. I have them in my current S1.

 

Changes had to be made to the dash for the Series 3 because the screen was raked more. The dash top is deeper and on each side there are little covers over the sides of the dash. However, the wooden "bit" that holds the instruments etc may install, but the rest, no.
