Intermittent click noise from behind drivers seat
Dear friends, I thought I had cured this problem when I overhauled the IRS in 2017. I suspected this noise was caused by a worn radius arm bush, the large one that is secured to the body.
Unfortunately, the blooming click has returned. I am aware that the splines on the driveshaft / hub can make a clicking noise if they are not assembled with a drop of loctite. This particular noise is quite noticeable when passing over a bump in the road, and I feel a vibration in the car when it happens. What I am beginning to worry about is the possibility of the anchoring point on the body has lost integrity, maybe through some corrosion I cannot see at present. I wonder if anybody has experienced this problem and found the answer? I always am most grateful to you all for your thoughts and suggestions. Kind regards, Danny.

Danny,
I've never driven my car, but I finished a complete overhaul of the IRS a month ago and I'm trying to imagine something that might "click" when going over a bump. Is there any moving parts you DIDN'T overhaul or repair? Did you look at the rear muffler hanger, it is just a sliding bayonet and the rubber might be very worn or gone. Did you look at the (4) cage to frame mounts for the rubber beginning to separate? Good luck.

Hi Dave, thank you for your reply. I did indeed replace the exhaust hangers. This noise is coming from the radius arm area where it is bolted to the body. Also the 4 mounting blocks were all closely inspected. I have today looked closely at the plate that the radius arm is bolted to and cannot see any sign of it being insecure. It is a problem that I hope will be solved one day! I might end up driving the car until something gives way! As long as it passes the annual MOT every year I reckon it cannot be in a dangerous state.
Regards, Danny.
Regards, Danny.
