Default Introducing my "new" Cat

I bought this beauty last saturday.

Lot's of work to do, but fortunately no rust damage on the floor, wheel wells and doors.
Engine running sweetly.

The cat marks its territory though... ;-)

LnrB beat me to it, prrr.

So, I'll add my comment, GRRRRRR!!!

Elinor:

I recall your sojurn with NIX into the redwoods and beyond. Particularly, the one in which cars passed through. Sadly, the news reported that the giant succumbed to the forces of nature and was toppled...

I was very sad to read this, Carl, just had to read the story so I looked it up (Google knows everything).
The tree we drove through was the Chandelier Tree (still healthy and growing) on the Avenue of the Giants in Humboldt Redwoods State park.

The tree that fell was a Giant Sequoia in the Calaveras Big Trees State Park.

love it!

the early V12s mark there territory , most all oil leaks can be fixed without much work!

but the rear crank rope seal requiers engine removal to do the job properly, and then they usually start to leak again in short order, unless you dont drive much!

but hey, mines been leaking for 20yrs, and not really a problem!

i run it a quart low ,about 1/2 down the stick, and its much happier!

other than that NO oil leaks.

It actually only has rust on the front and rear window frames and the left hand rear fender has rusted completely through from the window downward to about half way down the fender.

Luckily I found a company that can supply me with a brand new one, so it will be completely swapped out.

The distributor cap has u huge crack in it, I can see the rotor turning through that....AND STILL SHE RUNS.......wouldn't have thought that would be possible....

Took out the panel and surfboard (you can see them lying on the passenger seat, sanded and grounded, ready for foiling and spraying.

Foiled and ready for paint

Did 10 out of 12 sprak plugs yesterday.
The front two I didn't do, because all belts need replacing and the compressor needs to come loose for that. So, Í'll do the front two when I do the belts..

Did 10 plugs in just a little over 4 hours....next time will be faster, because I needed to maken some special tools for some screws...

4 hours to change 10 plugs!?! & even more hassle to get the last two plugs!?! You've just made my mind up about doing a V12 swap on my S3. I think I'll be sticking with the 4.2 6

I can change the plugs in my 4.2 in 3 minutes.

That does not count the minutes spent opening the boxes, checking the gaps, vacuuming the holes around the spark plugs, or fighting with the high tension cable plugs to remove them from the spark plugs.

It does not include the 10 minutes cursing because I hit my head with the locking latch of the bonnet. I always forget to do them from the opposite side.

I removed the latch for exactly that reason. Can't really see the point of it on a rear opening bonnet.
