Default jaguar xj12l 1974

Hello
I have a jaguar xj12l 1974 and i have a problem with my strombergs-zenith.
I rebuilt them ( everthing new) and the car smoke a lot!!!
what should i do????

What color is the smoke?

Hello and thank you for the reply. the smoke is black and only from the left exhaust.

Black smoke would indicate that you are running very rich. Try to lean out the mixture.

Hello again.

I try to lean out the mixture but the problem still exists.

The motor works fine and accelerates perfectly.

What else sould i do?

It souns like it's flooding from one or both carbs on that side, so if adjustment doesn't work, you'll have to take each one off and check the float bowl - did you replace any parts in this area ? I don't know anything about Strombergs, only SUs, but floats can, over time end up not floating properly, even filling with petrol due to a small leak if made of brass.
