Jaguar xj6 overheating issue
So i recently signed up to the jaguar forums to see if i could get some input from one of you members, my xj6 recently overheated one night i figured it has something small so left it sitting at a friends house, the next day i go over to see if i could figure out the problem when i check no busted lines, replaced thermostat, i then noticed my water pump and air injection pump wasnt spinning so i replaced the water pump, and still no spin on either nor the fan. Can someone please help me out here, i need to know if the air injection pump is what makes the water pump and fan spin, and how could i check if the pump is bad cause i dont want to replace it and then its a blown fuse thats not letting electicity get to the air pump.

I would have thought is is fairly easy to see if a drive belt is missing, after all there is a large pulley on the water pump and the alternator. Of course, the belt could be slack and not driving, OR the pump has seized, although this is very rare in my experience.
I had a slack belt on a small Austin 1100 in my poor (lack of cash) youth, and nearly didn't get home as the battery almost went flat before I noticed the slack belt

The motor has 2 different pulleys one the crank and the other the water pump, the air injections belt is attached to the water pump one, the water pump one also control the powersteering one which was once ripped and i havent replaced since because the line is pinched and leaking, the crank as far as i know is only attached to the alternator, i just cant seem to figure out what spins the water pump

Its a long time since I had an XJ6 with the XK 4.2 engine, but I remember one of the belts drove the waterpump/radiator fan, and the alternator. So it went around 3 pulleys - crank, waterpump/fan, and alternator.
Haved a read of this, and also look at the pictures; you will clearly see the belt I describe.
