Default Jaguar XJ6 "Restoration" project.

What I am displaying here is a 1971 Jaguar XJ6. This car does NOT have the original engine, but it has a Ford Taurus SHO V6 engine because of my grandfather hate for automatics (He's a serious petrol head). Now, I do NOT live with my grandparents, so if you ask me anything about the car that I don't know really about, you'll might get the info later. So, I started cleaning out the inside of the car, not all the way, but close enough to take more pictures.

This just means that I can use ford parts and it'll run just fine.

Since I removed the boxes, I can now sit in the back seat.

Hello,
So ya got another Series 1 for us to watch get put right.
I've never heard of anyone putting a Ford V6 into an Xj6, it will be nice to see the conversion job once you get the car uncovered.

Welcome to our playpen from ElinorB.

Like wise. Some pictures too dark for me to see. Especialy how the SHO fits.

Decades ago, A Jaguar tech told me that the "little modern" Jaguar V6's were actually Taurus' under the skin. A noted and respected Jaguar expert that posts here from time to time vigorously disputes that!

I like the "blue oval" on the boot ledge. My car has a V8 badge on the opposite side.....

The engine fits fine, it's just the electrical connection that's the problem. Next time, I'll make sure to use flash on the camera.

I'd be interested in trying to help. I managed GM to Jaguar electrics. A tussle, no doubt.
I found that schematics for each car an essential.

As the SHO is an FI engine, the matching ECU, aka PCM is essential.

Light it up and fire away....

The outside looks nice, the inside, not so much
The rear end looks like its had some trim removed, the number plate surround, which makes it look really clean and nice.
The reverse lights on my series one are different to yours, (im in Australia) I think those look better.

Cant wait to see it out in all its glory.

Yeah, I'll might replace the wood with mahogany wood, and since the seats are leather, I can wipe the mold out. The exterior was a 9000 USD paint job, but I may or may NOT put a different exterior color.

I have come back with something great. I've clean the steering wheel (now looks better than ever), and I've found the interior doors part. I have discovered how I can install the side mirrors. Later, I'll come back cleaning the seats. My grandmother told me that my grandfather place the driver seat into the attic.

Good Luck! that's quite a project, The original SHO V6 came from Yamaha I believe. It should be quite runner when completed. I would be interested how the FWD V6 was mated to rear wheel drive transmission. There was a kit that would allow the Cadillac Northstar to be mounted to a rear wheel drive set up. This was done by hot rodders before GM made the change. On by the way, early XJ6s are just beautiful. Welcome to the forum. Keep us informed.

Updates Updates Updates Updates!
Today, I finally get to see how the engine is placed, and I also took pictures of the transmission area. Most of the stuff like coolants, Ac Compressor, and others had been removed. The transmission is a Ford Rangers transmission from what I've heard. Not quite sure if it completely converted, but will notify once discovered. This will need to be rearranged, where it's runs good. Wish me luck.

Memory jogged. Yup, Taurus V6 with Yamaha developed heads.

The installation looks more than decent as to the "bolt in". Unclear as to the Ranger transmission. C4 based or 5 speed?

Well worth cleaning up and taking the fitment further along.

I'm pretty sure it's a 5 speed transmission because my grandfather wanted a manual. What's the point of swapping the engine if they are both going to be automatic.
