Just for fun. What did you find in your XJ?
Hello!
I purchased my XJ6 off the original owner. He purchased it in 87 and had everything that came with it.
I found these put away in the Welcome / Service manual / book
Helpful and fun o look at and makes me feel very nostalgic for some reason.

A forgotten dog biscuit under the front passenger which had attracted worms after a couple weeks.
When they got tired of the dog biscuit they started on the wool headliner leaving "shaved" areas in strange places and holes here and there.
Steamed doesn't even Begin to describe my reaction!
All fixed now.

I had a very annoying rattle coming from under my ashtrays somewhere for a couple of years, when I had to eventually dig deep in there to find a wiring problem I found a metal tin with 3 schrader valve cores in it. Probably been down there for 30 or more years. They were still ok, I have used one in the Jeep and one on the bike so far.

Reaching way back in the back side of my ,memory I comment. I got my car in late 2001!!! : From a dealer in old Jaguars!! Mine was well detailed. It's striking colors attracted me. Chocolate brown exterior, Tan buckskin interior,
1. A super mickey mouse anti theft device !! A plunge switch that would close on opening the bonnet, if the on switch were on. That would sound a horn, not the Jaguar horns , but another. The on switch a mere toggle in the glove box.
Never tested. I removed all traces forthwith.... Not sure if the horn is somewhere in my collection of many odd bits!!

Zigzag's??? A couple of decades ago, I noted those still for sale. But I suspect a different use than the one I knew.
In my college days, some of us smoked. Tabacco, not the other stuff. Had to be frugal.
A sack of Bull Durham and a book of ZigZags in a shirt pocket. At break time, roll 'em up and light up. Not sure if I could still a master the technique of getting one decently rolled to smoke.
My car did include both publications and more. A copy of a local Jaguar clubs paper and a Jaguar magazine,
Much later, I acquired a tape. A sales tool welcoming a new Jaguar owner. I had two, I shared one with another lister. He and a pal played one at a concours to the delight of the guys there.,

My dad told me of an old story. He was a professional soldier. In an early day, as a private, he was driving an army truck. Possibly an Indiana brand. An older sergeant was riding shot gun. When dad pulled out his book of Zig Zags and a sack of Bul Durham and started to roll a quirely, the older guy said ,"Never mind, son, keep both hands on the wheel and I'll keep you in tailor mades". Deal!!,
I still have a sack on my shop wall. Empty, just for the fun of it.
Aww, Billy went roaming!!! In to a neighbor lady's yard, She walked him back, on a leash. Been there done that!! Must have found treats there. Not after me for them!!
A board out on a side gate ? ?. Too narrow ? Just might have? so, I got out a screw gun and longer screws and put it back. Billy intensely interested???
Good thing I recharged them. two of the three did well. The third not so much.

I dug a girl's belt out of the rear vent.
Under the rear seat I found rust.
Under the front floor mat I found rust.
I've had my fill of patching rust holes this summer.
To follow up on Carl's military smoke stories: Had an older structural engineer colleague who shared a story about his younger military days. They'd use Zippo lighters because it was easy to refill them by opening up the Jeep's fuel tank from the floor, dip the Zippo and presto, ready to light.
