Default Limp Mode 1990 XJ6
I have been dealing with the limp mode coming on and off. I replaced the transmission control unit under the pass. side dash ( it was used) The old control unit DBV5080 would not come out off limp mode at all. Sometimes when you turn the key on and off it will go out of limp mode for a very short while.Cleaned the cable ends with WD40 on the electrical hook up to the trans on the left side. What next??? Thanks all....

may be a code for the trani.. you will have to go to a dealer that still has and uses PDU which is a old diagnostic reader... i remembering using it on a 1990..

Sounds like you need to adjust the rotary switch. Driver's side of the transmission.
