Hey guys, so I don't usually misplace stuff but I had one single key for the car and have misplaced it. I looked into calling Jaguar directly and apparently the main headquarters doesn't make them for models that old anymore :/, I looked into a locksmith and same deal. I'll try calling around to more but so far my only option seems to take out the ignition lock cylinder and mailing it in to get it remade. If anyone has any other advice or tips I'm all ears!

You can easily get a new (used) ignition switch and key from David at everydayxj.com. Do you have the other key (gas caps and glove box) so you can lock and unlock the doors?

Okay thanks man, I'll check out the link you sent. Are you suggesting buy the switch, send it in to get made, then replace it on my car? And no sadly I do not...that was my only one

I just ran into a similar issue with the rebuild on my S3. When I bought it, the only key I got was the ignition; no doors, boot, glove box or gas caps. I was able to buy what I needed plus the "master key" that is supposed to work in everything from David, he has been a good person to deal with, in my experience.

At my house, lots of assorted things play this game often with husband. It's like Hide & Seek only more irritating.
Then after he finally gives up and replaces whatever item is "lost," it mysteriously reappears as if nothing was wrong, like, "Yes? You called? I've been here all the time."

I got ONE set of keys for my car, but at least I had an example of all 3.
First thing I did after title transfer was have copies made of ALL of them: Labeled them and put one set in the car, one in my desk and one in the safe with the originals.

Get a good used one or even a NOS unit from David Boger. Mine came NOS, but with one key..
No problem. My local Ace has a good lock smith area.. but, no blank for my car, an 83 Jaguar.

Again, no problem. Off to the long time locksmith that helped me before. Switch and key ion hand. He quickly found a blank, cut it. fitted it and then squirted my switch. Smoooth and tight, unlike the one that failed me..

The install is fiddly, but doable...

Hi, taking out the lock cylinder is a given either way. Once you have it out and separated from the switch you should be able to drive the car without it ( using just the switch, I THINK, haven't actually tried it myself ). If you can find a old school real brick & mortar locksmith instead of a "mail order locksmith kit" run out of a van, they should be able to make a key to fit the lock cylinder. I ordered the blanks and had a local place make both keys ( ignition & doors ) for a parts car I bought ( had no keys ). The quicker option might be to just buy a new cylinder with key from David as suggested above. Key blank #s ignition = FT6R Door / trunk / gas caps / glovebox = BL6 Note they originally came with a Valet key ( I never found a supplier ) which only opened doors and maybe gas caps because it's thicker than the master key.

Haha forsure! I guarantee the same will happen for me once I can get one made again. But yeah I will definitely be planting 3 different keys went I cam get my hands back on the master key.
