LUMPed with Current/Modern Jaguar Engine?
Curious, with all the deep forum reading I've done the last couple of weeks in preparation for my own Jag Series I, II, III project I don't recall seeing anyone that has put a current or modern Jag engine/drive-line in a Series I II or III. Did I just miss it or is it because the SBC is so cheap and available? I think keeping it all Jag would be pretty cool.

I love your phrase "pucker factor". I hase a series 3 and also a 2007 Vanden Plas with 4.2 v8. The 4.2 v8 is magnificent with tons of torque. I would love to see that engine in an XJ6 but have heard the sump and bottom of that engine interferes with the frame and suspension of the XJ6. The SBC conversions are just so easy and inexpensive and give you options from 200 to 400+ HP with, in some cases, a warranty. But, yeah, I love to see the more interesting and exotic transplants. Doesn't cost anything to dream.

My wife has a 2002 Jag. A 4.0 or 4.2 Jag V-8 in a Series III XJ would be the best of both worlds IMHO. From what I've read, however, the real trick would be to get the engine and gearbox electronics sorted out as everything is integrated on the newer cars. Not impossible, but challenging.

Exactly, I have a 1963 3.8s with a GM LS aluminum block V8. There is one member of the forum that did a MK II with a XKR V8 but it is much more work and money due to the fact that unlike the GM LS option where you have many aftermarket vendors for engine mounts, pulley options, ECU options, header options, etc. you will be forced to do a lot of one off part fabrication and that will suck up time and money. Most engine swaps are not easy so if you add that complexity many will never finish their project as it will take a lot more time and money many cannot afford to do. Also even if you do it with all Jaguar engines they just are not as powerful; the LS engines will easily be 400-750 + HP, get better fuel economy, have so many more performance parts, lighter being all aluminum block, and more reliable. It is hard to beat an LS. DO NOT do a V8 swap with an old carbureted intake as those will have very poor resale and are not desirable; people want modern computer controlled fuel injected engines without distributors, etc.

Body Transplant...
Jahmiata,
Have never done this on a Jag. But speaking from non-Jag experience...
If you're thinking it's just an engine swap, think again. With 50%, 100% or more increase in HP you need to be thinking transmission, drivetrain, brakes, suspension. In fact almost every drivetrain part except those bulletproof rearends.
I'm not claiming all will need replaced, but don't be surprised if the project grows exponentially.
