Default Metal Steel Thickness for patched (Jaguar XJC)

Hi Brothers,

I have recently purchased Jaguar JX6 Coupe 1976 and I need to do some welding on the doors and chassis.

I have found the below shop online, however, I am confused which steel would work best?

https://www.themetalstore.co.uk/products/sheet-metal

Could you advise which metal sheet should I buy for the doors (1.2mm or 2.0mm)? Should it be mild steel, stainless steel or galvanized?

Your help would be very much appreciated.

Thanks,

Cut your patch panel from a sedan door of a similiar year. This way its the same metal and would have the same curve. It comes out great this way, using sheet stock doesnt work as well. Ive done it both ways. Modern mild steel stock is very diffrent than the Jag stuff from the 70's.

Here in the USA we have lots of donor sedans for metal work. I think it would be the same where ever you are.
