Default New Pertronix Distributor -- No Spark Series 2 XJ6C

I've searched the forum and haven't seen an answer to my specific issue. Need some help here. Have a new Pertronix Distributor mounted in a brand new engine in my Series 2 XJ6C. I have voltage at both sides of the coil with key on. I wired it the same as the points distributor I removed (I think). Does anyone have a diagram for XJ6 with the ignition amplifier, ballast and condenser? Should I bypass the amplifier and try it? I've seen non-ballast diagrams that show the red and black distributor wires going directly to the + and - sides of the coil... mine come out of the ignition amplifier. Dying to hear this new motor run before winter...

If you have the the matched coil recommended for the distributor, you should only need the two wires to the coil. By-pass amplifier and coil ballasts, if any, from the original setup. The attached catalog page shows matching coil.

Thanks guys, yes will try it this way this weekend. Looks like my new Lucas Sport Coil is a 3.0 Ohm unit, so will work with the pertronix.

Yup.

A Pertronix benefit. No amplifier, no condenser, and no ballast !! Simplicity reigns

Did you get your distributor working? I was thinking about installing the same unit. Thanks!

Yes, had to remove the ballast resistor and simplify the wiring per the distributor directions that I should have read first...
