Question More Ignition timing???

Now I'm totally confused. I timed my S3 XJ6 with thr strobe hooked to # 1(Firewall end).
On "Living with a Classic" link below, he says to time it with the light on #6 (near the Fan).

This should not make a difference Right?

I've always used #1 but some use #6. They're at TDC at the same time.

Cheers

Doug, what am I missing? Although both #1 and #6 are at TDC at the same time, only one will have a spark. So with my light on #1, I get a spark that lights up the timing plate. Surely if I attach it to #6, it should be 180 deg. off?

360 degrees behind #1 spark , same spot on crank timing damper.
