Default Need help with the climate controls

Hello, new guy here. Long story short, I inherited my father’s XJ12 and it’s had some weird work done on it. I’ve got it running and driving but it seems to be only blowing hot air out of the vents. The Haynes manual and internet doesn’t tell how the controls work. The picture below shows the current panel. The far left knob turns on the a/c compressor. But I don’t know what the top lever and two lower levers do. I think the far right switch used to be a knob that controls the heat, but I’m not sure. I don’t know why it’s a switch now. It’s been sitting for a few years so it could need an a/c recharge. But if anyone could tell me what the knobs and levers do, I’d greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

No one has responded because I think we are all stumped. It looks nothing like anything I've ever seen. Maybe a totally custom set up? Exactly what year and model is your car?

I agree with Jeff.
You may get to embark on an adventure to see just What was done to the original setup.

I think the two lower slide levers controlled left side and right side air flow to the floor vents, dash vents, or defrost vents.

The upper slide lever was temperature control

The LH rotary knob was for A/C.

There would've been a RH rotary knob for fan speed

Best guesses from a little Googling

Cheers

Blower with no heat issue - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum

Here's a thread where the kind forum folks helped me out with the AC/Heat issue in my XJ6. It has information on how the stock system should work. I agree with others that this looks like some kind of custom setup, but maybe you can piece the info together and find a middle ground.

The OP's slide levers look typical/normal for a Series I car.

This set-up used the three slide levers and two rotary knobs (with A/C) or a single rotary knob (without A/C). Here's a pic clearly showing the slide levers

These early systems are very different from the system used on the Series II and III cars. Nothing is remotely comparable.

Cheers
