Default New Carpets, Change Color or Stay Original?

As part of my interior refresh, I will be ordering all new carpets and the idea of changing the color entered my mind. I believe the original color is what most of the vendors are calling Cinnamon and is a rusty brown color. As you can see, this color has faded over time to a more muted brown. Donor car, but same color carpets.

Thoughts on how the Dark Brown or Navy would look with the light blue exterior and tan seats, door panels and other interior trim?

Or just stock with Cinnamon?

Door tag if it matters.

Paint code JDM comes back as Cobalt Blue Thermoplastic Metallic
Trim ADE comes back as Bisquit

So, is Cinnamon not the right original color or close to the original Bisquit? Maybe Saffron is closer to the original Bisquit color?

I think the navy is too dark if your trying to pick up the exterior blue on your car (which is quite lovely by the way).

Of the colours on that chart, I would pick the medium blue if you wanted to tie it to the exterior but my first choice would be black. It will tie in with the dash and some of the other interior trim pieces and set off the tan upholstery quite nicely. It will also be easier to complementary floor mats…

I don’t think the browns - including the original cinnamon - do anything for the car other than look drab.

In the Fashion World, "They" say one should always wear something Black, even if only a small accessory, because it makes whatever else stand out, as it acts sort of as an accent to catch the eye.
(but everyone knows I'm partial to BLACK. Nix has BLACK carpets, but then, She's BLACK!)

I agree with Ken that any of the Brown family of colors will only drab it out, and you want something that makes it Pop to the eye.

I more of the interior were black I would tend to agree on black carpets. The only thing black in the interior is the dash and rear parcel shelf. Not counting things like seat belts, gauges and ski slope. Maybe I need to order a sample of the navy and medium blue. My leaning toward the Navy was it is a completely darker shade than the exterior of the car. I am worried if the medium blue is close to the exterior color but not perfect, which it won't be, that it may look strange.

Regarding floor mats, in the German Auto Tops kit, it includes the carpet under the feet of both front and rear. For mats I am sure I can find something that Coco Mats sells that would look good.

Elinor,

Not to hijack MSGGrunt’s thread too far, my first Series III VDP was a black car (she had been repainted with a gorgeous Mercedes black that had none of the brown tones of Jaguar’s black at the time),m replete with a black interior, black carpets and black “lambs wool” fleece floor mats. The headliner was a “flannel gray” that set off the interior and she rode on 70 spoke Dayton wire wheels that set off the gloss black exterior.

She's only BLACK on the outside. Inside is Much lighter, but not as light as photos show.

And now back to your regularly scheduled programming....

Here's the option I chose when carpeting and adding CocoMats to my '75 XJ6C. And... just my personal opinion. I do like the Cinnamon.

I actually like that the carpets more closely match the leather interior and trim.

This is my 2001 XJR which is Carnival Red Mica over an Oatmeal interior and black carpet:

This is my 1992 Series III VDP which is Oyster over a Doeskin interior and a dark brown carpet with matching dark brown fleece mat:

Both cars are completely original in all respects.

The dark brown carpets pick up the darker grain in the burl nicely.
