New guy with new questions? Please!
I have just recently purchased a 1977 XJ6 (LUMP) with Chevy 305 and turbo 350. It was not finished by previous owner and now its my turn. My first (of many) questions is: would a dash from a 1985 XJ6 fit in a 1977? My original is missing and the gauges were put into a piece of wood and screwed to the dash. Also, would anyone have a picture of there dash and all the buttons and what they all do? I don't have the first clue on which side of the steering wheel the blinkers are at or headlight switch or the gas tank switch. All the wires were behind the make shift console and the buttons were on the back seat. Can someone help me out. Thanks

Series III dash and early center facia panel (switch panel) should work, The wood veneer center panel from an '85 is not the correct shape to fit with the 77 center console without modification.
Sounds like you need to locate a SII parts car. Even if you get SIII stuff, I can't think of a significant reason why it wouldn't all fit. You'd likely need wiring diagrams from both models to reconcile any connector differences.
The 77 spedometer is mechanical (cable driven), and the SIII is electronic. But the SII speedo head should fit right into an SIII dash.
I have early SIII parts, so the center switch panel shouldn't be a problem. If you already have access to the 85 dash, I think I'd go for it.
