I just got my 1990 XJ12 and the fuel lines and injector rubber is being replaced. I documented the disassembly closely, but have found something that I didn't document.
The hose that I am pointing at in picture 1 has no 'match' to connect with. Its on the LH side between the cylinders and originates in the manifold. (I tried to show where it comes from in the second photo). It seems to be part of the emissions system, but I am not sure and I can't find the answer in my shop manual.
Can anyone identify the line and what it should connect to? Thanks in advance!
Tom This is the line. It is coming from beneath the manifold. It hooks into a rubber air flange.
It is the distributor ventilation line. It is plumbed into the AAV hose. It looks like the spigot that should be going into the dizzy cap has come unglued from the cap. If you look st the dizzy cap, just inside the ring of HT leads, towards the front of the cap, you will probably see a hole or the bits of the spigot that are still there.
Remove the cap and araldite it back, or buy a new cap if it has not been renewed for years! You need a LUCAS ignition, H.E. V12 cap. Talk to Jack Weston at David Manners and he will sort you out, unless you already have a reliable supplier.

Greg in France- massive thanks. That is absolutely correct- earlier pictures showed it going into the distributor and that made no sense to me. Now it does.
I'll drink a toast to Greg in France this evening. Much appreciated!
