No gas? 1974 XJ6
Have a 1974 XJ6 S2, its been sitting for a few years, and I'm unable to get it started. The car sounds like it wants to turn over but is not getting any gas. With that said any help would be appreciated.
Here is what I've done so far.
1. Replaced fuel filter, and have checked fuel pumps, there was dirty gas as expected. I've cleared out the lines going to the carb, and have a hose going into a clean tank, gas goes through the fuel pump and up to the carbs. Disconnected the line at the carb to clean out the lines, gas flows well when key is turned to ignition.
2. Spark plugs, all get power (Read 12V on voltmeter when turning to start), are clean and have gap set to .025.
3. Choke cable works.
4. There does not appear to be any gas coming through the jet when the top of the carb is removed and key is set to ignition.
My next step is to rebuild the carbs, any suggestions before delving into it or any other "quick" fixes I should look in to?
Thanks

Drain the fueltanks first, almost certain to be water in them if it's been sitting that long. We had some water in ours, nothing would get it started aside from spraying start-ya-******* down the carbs. Flushed out the fuel lines and popped some fresh fuel in with some metho after draining the tanks and fired right up

Definitely water in the tanks. I'm planning on pulling them and sealing them, in the mean time i have removed the tanks from the equation and ran a new line into an external tank to pump out the old crap in the lines. I guess my next question is does a tank have to be pressurized just to test the engine?

Fuel injection forces fuel onto the back of the inlet valves, but your '74 is carburettors that rely on inlet manifold vacuum to suck the fuel in. It could be the long time standing has caused the piston rings to stick so you're not getting sufficient manifold vacuum to get fuel into the engine. Try a few drops of oil into the plug holes, then a few turns of the engine, then see if it will start.
