Initially I thouight ugh!!
But once you get the bias for the standard coupe look out of your head, it looks pretty nice.

Be interesting in a parking space - those doors look about one foot longer than a standard front door.

A lot of time and money gone into it. Got to say it's growing on me.

I think he used part of the rear door off of a lwb 4 door making it longer than expected.

It's interesting and seems to be well done, but, for me, the proportions are off.

I'd have to say, I like it. It does remind me very much of a Volvo P1800 though, and I prefer the "normal" XJ, but I'm funny that way.

Agreed, proportions are all wrong. Even those crazy Aussie ute versions look more appropriate and thats saying alot!

Some where Sir William Lyons is rolling in his grave...

Aren't those crazy Aussie utes none other than the mighty Chevy El Camino, or badge-engineered variants?

This is what I had in mind. Lots of work for a bed that can't haul anything heavy. I've seen this done to every car imaginable.

In the States, a common saying I've heard is: "If its been built, someone has installed a small block Chevy in it".

Down under I've always imagined them saying "If its been built, someone has turned it into a Ute"

The original thread pic reminds me of a Karmen Gia. Downward sloping hood, downward sloping trunk and bulbous cockpit. Definately looks old school Karmen Gia to me.

Think I'll stick w/ the original style parked in my garage. I'm of the opinion that modifications should be subtle. That is anyting but.

I think that car is gorgeous! Though I prefer the 4 doors myself, need the room for the dogs.
