Default Oil

Wondering what oil to use in my 1984 XJ6. I’ve heard lots of people use 20w-50 non-synthetic. I’m wondering if something like 10w-40 would work too? I may be storing it in a non-heated garage for winter and it gets to -40 C here

I will assume CA is Canada??

For storage, with the odd start up, maybe, I would go 10W40.

The 10 will simply get up and go much faster than the 20 for sure.

I ran 15W40 in all my XK engines, and OK, we dont see your cold end, but summer can be pushing 50C, and the 40 is fine.

Yes I’m up in Canada, it gets very cold😂
doesn’t get quite as hot here in the summer.
so 10w-40 would work in cold storage and summer then?
