oil pressure confusion
Jagboi,
No, half way thru 1976 the sender/ gauge pair was changed. I had an early 1976 gauge with the later sender. My car was an early 1976, so i needed the early sender to mate up with the early gauge... both early and late were 100 lb senders... Owned this car for almost 20 yrs, always had incorrect pressure reading but always read 20 to 40 lbs so I wasn't worried because at least there was movement. finally got around to doing something about it recently. So, PO or his service guy must have replaced the sender with the wrong one or it came from the factory that way.. In the 70s Jaguar was fighting with the Union workers an quality was non-existent. So could have possibly installed the new sender with one of the last early gauges lying around.
