Oil Type
I have a 1986 Jaguar with 53,500 original miles and will be doing an oil change soon. I live in Melbourne Florida and was wondering what the jaguar forum members suggest would be a good type oil for this area.
Assuming we're talking about an '86 XJ6.....
20/50 weight is the most popular for the old 6 cylinders, particularly in warm climates. I use whatever name brand is on sale that day; others have their favorites.
Cheers

On recommendation of my local Jaguar technician, I use 20W40 Mineral Diesel Engine Oil.
The additives in the Diesel version seem to solve some issues with carbon build up, according to him.
Engine (78,000 mls) never runs too hot, always smoothly and reaches it optimal temp within minutes....
