Simple question here; can the series 2 doors be dismantled beyond removing them and their lining - can i seperate in half to access the glass and internal working. Doesn't appear so, but I couldn't see another way to replace such things as the glass itself unless it were possible.

 

The door can't be disassemble, no.

The glass is lifted out vertically after being detached from the regulator. The regulator and motor come out after the big plate with about 10 small bolts/screws is removed

If you venture into this be very careful. These old style regulators are typically spring loaded...some mild, some quite fierce.... and can become a giant pair of scissors. Don't let your hand become trapped between the regulator arms. It's been too many years since of done that type of work on an older Jag so I can't remember enough to offer specific hints.

Just be mindful that you might be working against a spring loaded mechanism
