Default Polyurethane Bushings - Cost Savings

I ordered a box of polyurethane steering rack bushings from one of the big british vendors. The actual bushings came from a company called Prothane Motion Control. On their website you can find the same bushings by vehicle. They do not sell the bushings directly, but google the part number and you will see them at a ton of big stores, like summit, or jegs, etc. My rack bushings are 10 bucks cheaper at summit. The lower A-arm bushings are 15 dollars cheaper at summit. The upper A-arm bushings are 25 dollars cheaper at summit. Of course be careful you get the part numbers correct. I imagine if you pieced together a whole front end bushing kit you could save 50 bucks or more. Now...I do see a color difference between the expensive and cheaper, the expensive ones are listed as black where the summit ones are listed as red (both made by prothane). I'm not sure if there is a durometer (hardness) difference associated with the color.

I am not 100% sure about Prothane, but I know some of the other vendors distinguish their product by those colors. Black is the softer material, and red is the harder material. I have a set of black ones partially installed and so far I'm happy with them... not sure of the brand. Got them from JaguarSpecialties.

i happened to find prothane had made the genuine front under tray for x300/x308. so the company can be considered to be reliable, so can the products. it was good to know there are such bushes, i will try next time.
