Default Pulled the rear!

Wife called at 5 says she’s working late, so I told her I was going in garage to prep car to pull the rear end tomorrow well, it’s 6:25 and I am cleaned up and sitting on couch with a beer, had no clue it would come out that easy, passenger side front trailing arm bushing is totally gone, but that’s a job for tomorrow!!!

5 o clock

Well done! But it is not a difficult job. The hardest part for most is separating the exhausts. - for others it may be dropping the radius arms. Once these are done it is very straight forward..

yep, I had the rear out of the XJS in 25 minutes……but brakes and tail shaft and exhausts were already out.

I had to cut the exhaust off as it went under the cage and I left no provision for removal, drivers side radius arm popped off easily with a pry bar, passenger side one separated as soon as I put pressure on it… need to add a new rubber brake
pine to my parts list, no point I. Replacing everything else and using that 39 year old hose!!

Its amazing how easily they come out! Check the condition of the four rubber mounts. Its all that hold the cage in really and they can tear.

I have new mounts!! . Got whole thing stripped down now, found a few issue along the way, someone definitely was in there before me! One of the 4 studs that go through the brake disk is snapped off one one side, all the shims / spacers for the control arms are in pieces( will start a new thread on that) oh and I snapped off the vent….

Should be fun!!
Oh and one of my rear shocks came apart, never seen. That happen before….

I will also be posting tin the classifieds to see if there’s any interest in my carrier and gears, is only a 2:88 but it’s a power lock..

Or, 185mph on 25" tires, .70 O.D., and 5000rpm. I'm pretty sure mine won't have the HP to push the car through the air at that speed,.....but on paper, wow.

ODDD!!

My lump has the original 2.88 gears. It pulls pretty durn good.

My LT1 is tuned for torque. needed to pull the Cadillac fleetwood brougham, that it came from.

Camaor and corvette tunes not as well suited for the heavy jaguar, in my opinion.

Default 3.54’s

My 3.54’s & .7 overdrive = 2.48’s. Wished I’d went with a 3.90. The rat will pull, but the OD vacuum switch is fussy and slips out of lock up too easily below 65.
