Question about leak in the diff......
I own a all original 1997 XJ6 VP...
I noticed the front main seal in my diff was leaking..... my questions....
1. Can I JUST drop the drive shaft and replace the front seal?
2. Or do I need to tear out a lot to reach the front seal?
3. And any suggestions on replacing anything while im in the neighborhood?
She has 139k and runs great... i did spray and check the air breather and I added rear oil 2 months ago... 90w 50 i think? No noise coming from the diff.... tks guys

Jake,
I believe it is doable with the shaft out of the way, but I have not done mine, so hands on is not available.
Most weepage of this sort I have sorted with good old fresh oil, and a clean of the diff breather.
ALSO the 1997 XJ6 is known as an X300, and I strongly suggest a reposting that area to maximise responses, and expertise in that style of diff unit.
