Replacing the Radiator
Okay,
The main radiator in my 85 Ser III did have a leak, so I've 'vultured' a non-leaking replacement from a parts car and am planning to do a swap (it's been cleaned up nicely).
My question is: does anyone have a recollection of whether or not the other radiators/coolers need to be removed at the same time to get the main radiator out, or if I can just transplant the big one without pulling them? If there's been a post on the process of pulling it, I'd be obliged.

It's been a few years but I don't removing anything other than the hoses and fan shroud, but even those can be a little tricky. :-)
Actually, I don't think the shroud get removed. Just displaced.
A second set of hands is a real bonus during the lift-and-remove part this job.

You definitely don't have to remove the condenser or the oil cooler...
As Doug said, just remove the top cowl, displace the fan shroud, I like to remove the fan for more clearance, and all the hoses. Then it will lift straight out....

I'm considering a refresh of the cooling system on my 87 XJ6. Pump, thermostat, hoses and and pull the radiator to have it cleaned/refreshed by a local shop.
I'm in TX and I'd feel much more confident driving the car in the hot months knowing that everything is tip-top.
My question: does the bonnet have to come off to get the radiator out? I've seen conflicting info and do not want to have to remove it if I don't have to....
Thanks.

Yes, it can be fun. In another forum, I read an interesting way to do it. I think I managed to get mine off alone. But, when it came to getting it back, it took me, my strong son with long arms and his SOL!! The thing is not only big, but heavy.
Back to the first. Replace the bonnet sans grill. Scoot it into place bit by bit with the hinge bolts just snug. when aligned, tighten them through the grill opening. Replace the frill, the linkage that limits the opening arc.
I used fresh sharp new bolts to insure easy start and easy running down with a rachet and socket. My 3/8th set got a real work out on that car.
Nowadays, my ratcheting box spanners might be even more convenient in the somewhat restricted space.
